Meet Alex Tiele: the newest therapist at Bondi Sports Massage
We're stoked to welcome Alex Tiele to the Bondi Sports Massage team. Alex took an unusual road into massage therapy: eight years in the Navy, then straight into the world of sport, where he now works with some of Sydney's best-known teams.
From the Navy to the treatment room
Alex spent eight years in the Navy, deploying multiple times across warships and supply ships. Life at sea is long, physical and demanding, and it's where he saw first-hand how much his shipmates valued hands-on care. Encouraged to learn more, he left the Navy in 2024 and went on to study remedial massage at Evolve College in Sydney.
Along the way, Alex's path crossed with BSM owner Lukas, who teaches at the college and led him through 150 hours of practical skills. So we've seen his hands-on work up close, and we're glad to have him on the team.
During his studies he found his treatment style, and where he wanted to use it: sport.
Working with athletes
This year Alex has worked as a contracted soft tissue therapist with the Sydney Swans and Parramatta Eels, across both men's and women's teams. Through sports massage agencies he has also worked with NSW Cricket, Rugby Australia's men's and women's 7s, and Scottish Rugby, and he's currently helping organise therapists for Scotland's Australian tour this October.
"Working with elite sport is a passion of mine and I love seeing humans perform at their best."

How Alex works
First and foremost, Alex is client-driven. He works with you as a team to understand what's getting in the way of your sport or training, and builds each session around your goals, whether you're playing at the top level or just love getting out there on the weekend.
His toolkit includes:
Manual therapy
Active stretching
Myofascial dry cupping
Muscle energy techniques
Sports taping
Off the clock
When he's not in the clinic, Alex is watching and following rugby union, cycling and ice hockey, he is getting out on the bike when he can, and settling into life as a brand-new dad.
Fair warning: he also has a political science degree, so he's always up for a chat about politics and the economy. Settle in, we promise it won't be mandatory.
